The Bachelor of Pharmacy is a four-year undergraduate course that teaches students how to prepare and dispense drugs. It also teaches how drugs affect the body and mind. It is one of the most difficult undergraduate courses to pass, but with a solid study plan, it can be done.

The curriculum includes lectures, projects, internships, and viva. It also offers enrichment programs such as independent research with a faculty mentor and the University Scholars Program. These programs offer motivated students the opportunity to customize their intellectual environment and earn distinction on their academic record.

BSPS students must fulfill University and College of Pharmacy requirements, as described in the Undergraduate Bulletin and as specified by the Faculty. Exceptions may be permitted only with approval of the Faculty. Students who wish to substitute coursework for those required in the College of Pharmacy must obtain written permission from the Associate Dean of Admissions and Student Affairs.

Those who complete the degree will find many job opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry. It is a lucrative field, and India has one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical marketplaces.

Healthcare professionals preparing for certification should also practice with our NAPLEX pharmacist licensing exam 2026, which covers the clinical reasoning, patient care, and pharmacology sections of the official exam.

The profession of pharmacy is undergoing rapid, even dramatic change. This change will continue for some time, requiring new practitioners to adapt their knowledge and skills to the changed health care environment. To prepare for this challenge, the School of Pharmacy offers a program leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. This program consists of three to four years of undergraduate pre-professional coursework followed by four academic years in the professional program.

The first year consists of intensive science courses and the introduction to experiential education. These experiences include weekly clinical skill training and a one-week community or institutional experiential rotation at the end of each semester. Students are also required to complete an Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE).

Depending on the degree program, a student will need to fulfill University and College of Pharmacy prerequisites. These requirements may vary by degree program, but typically include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject, general chemistry, organic chemistry, human anatomy and physiology, biology, mathematics, statistics, English and a foreign language.
