If 2^x = 32, what is x?
Answer: 5
32 = 2^5, so x = 5.
What is the value of (10^4)(10^(-6))?
Answer: 10^(-2)
Add exponents: 4 + (−6) = −2.
Simplify √(75) − √(12).
Answer: 3√3
√75 = 5√3 and √12 = 2√3, so 5√3 − 2√3 = 3√3.
What is the value of (3^(-2))^(-1)?
Answer: 9
Multiply exponents: (−2)(−1) = 2, so 3^2 = 9.
If 4^(x+1) = 64, what is x?
Answer: 2
64 = 4^3, so x + 1 = 3 and x = 2.
Rationalize: 1/√5.
Answer: √5/5
Multiply numerator and denominator by √5: √5/5.
What is the cube root of 27?
Answer: 3
3 × 3 × 3 = 27, so the cube root is 3.
