Anyone else studying for NOCE in the next month? Want to study together

Taking my NOCE - National Opticianry Competency exam in 6 weeks and trying to find people at a similar stage to keep each other accountable.

I study better when I have someone to compare notes with. Currently going through "noc stock" and working on my weak areas — specifically around noc indicadores.

My schedule: 90 min of focused study every weekday, full practice test on weekends. I review every wrong answer and try to understand the why, not just memorize the right option.

If you're in a similar prep window and want to:
- Compare practice test scores weekly
- Share resources that actually helped
- Talk through confusing questions

Reply here or message me. Doesn't have to be formal — even just checking in once a week helps me stay on track.

Where is everyone at in their prep?

Went through this exact question when I was prepping. The NOCE material on "noc stock" is actually not as bad as it looks — once it clicks it clicks.

What helped me was finding one resource that explained it from first principles instead of just giving me the "right answer." Made a huge difference on the scenario-based questions.

Also: don't underestimate the importance of reviewing your wrong answers more than your right ones. I learned more from 20 wrong answers than 200 correct ones.

The honest answer is: it depends a lot on your background.

If you're already working in this field, the NOCE exam is testing knowledge you probably use daily. The "noc stock" sections will feel familiar.

If you're coming in from outside, give yourself an extra 2 weeks and really focus on the practical application questions.

The practice tests here are worth doing repeatedly — I did the same test bank multiple times and found new questions I'd missed each time.

The advice about understanding why wrong answers are wrong — not just memorizing right ones — is genuinely the best NOCE advice in this thread. Rebuilt my prep around that and it made a real difference.

Quick update: just cleared 88% on my most recent NOCE practice set using noce practice test pdf. Sitting for the real thing in 4 weeks. Feeling cautiously optimistic.

Just passed mine last month so I know exactly where you're at. Honestly the thing that clicked for me was drilling with a noce practice test pdf I found online — I wasn't just reading through material anymore, I was actually seeing how they phrase the questions and that's a completely different skill. The indicators section tripped me up too until I started timing myself on practice sets instead of just reviewing answers.

Don't stress too much about having a study partner, though it definitely helps for accountability. Six weeks is plenty if you're consistent. Good luck, you've got this.

That accountability idea is huge, honestly. I've been doing the same thing where I go back through every wrong answer and actually figure out WHY it was wrong instead of just moving on, and it's made a massive difference. Like if I get an ophthalmic lens power question wrong, I don't just note the right answer -- I work backwards through the formula until I understand where my thinking broke down. It's slower but it sticks way better.

I'm about 5 weeks out myself and still shaky on some of the dispensing standards stuff. If you want to swap notes or quiz each other on weak spots, I'm down. Two people catching each other's blind spots beats grinding alone any day.
