A rectangle has a length of 12 cm and a width of 8 cm. What is its area?
Answer: 96 cm²
Area = length × width = 12 × 8 = 96 cm².
Order these fractions from least to greatest: 3/4, 2/3, 5/6.
Answer: 2/3, 3/4, 5/6
Converting to 12ths: 8/12, 9/12, 10/12 — so 2/3 < 3/4 < 5/6.
A spinner has 8 equal sections numbered 1–8. What is the probability of spinning an even number?
Answer: 1/2
There are 4 even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8) out of 8 sections, so probability = 4/8 = 1/2.
What is the least common multiple (LCM) of 6 and 9?
Answer: 18
Multiples of 6: 6, 12, 18; multiples of 9: 9, 18 — LCM = 18.
A tank holds 120 gallons. It is currently 3/5 full. How many gallons are in the tank?
Answer: 72
3/5 × 120 = 360/5 = 72 gallons.
Solve: 4(x − 3) = 20.
Answer: x = 8
Divide both sides by 4 to get x − 3 = 5, then add 3: x = 8.
A number decreased by 40% equals 54. What is the original number?
Answer: 90
If the number × 0.60 = 54, then the number = 54 ÷ 0.60 = 90.
