    Answer: 576 sq ft

    Side = 96 ÷ 4 = 24 feet; Area = 24² = 576 sq ft.

  2. An officer completes 3/4 of a 60-page report on Monday and 1/6 of the remainder on Tuesday. How many pages are left?

    Answer: 12.5

    Monday: 45 pages done, 15 remain; Tuesday: 15 × 1/6 = 2.5 pages; 15 − 2.5 = 12.5 pages left.

  3. A dispatcher handles calls at a rate of 14 calls per hour. How many calls are handled in a 7.5-hour shift?

    Answer: 105

    14 × 7.5 = 105 calls.

  4. If a vehicle travels 360 miles on 12 gallons of fuel, how many gallons are needed for a 270-mile trip?

    Answer: 9

    360 ÷ 12 = 30 mpg; 270 ÷ 30 = 9 gallons.

  5. Three officers pool their overtime pay of $120, $145, and $95. They split the total equally. How much does each receive?

    Answer: $125

    ($120 + $145 + $95) ÷ 3 = $360 ÷ 3 = $120.

  6. A suspect ran 0.75 miles before being apprehended. An officer ran the same distance in 6 minutes. What was the officer's pace in minutes per mile?

    Answer: 8 min/mi

    6 minutes ÷ 0.75 miles = 8 minutes per mile.

  7. A uniform budget of $9,600 is divided so that 40% goes to equipment, 35% to training, and the rest to miscellaneous. How much is allocated to miscellaneous?

    Answer: $2,880

    Miscellaneous = 25% of $9,600 = 0.25 × $9,600 = $2,400.
