🧑‍🏫 How to become a TOEFL teacher?

TOEFL, TESOL, and CELTA are all teaching certifications for teachers abroad looking to work with students across all different levels of English language proficiency. However, as a TOEFL teacher, you will be working with students whose English levels are intermediate to proficient and looking to dominate their TOEFL tests to go on their own international education journey.

To become a TOEFL teacher with certification, you must:

Earn a College Degree

The minimum educational requirement for teaching TOEFL classes in most states is a bachelor's degree. Organizations engaged in TOEFL classes usually accept candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in any major subject as long as the candidate has an English proficiency at the expert level. Usually, a potential TOEFL teacher is not required to complete teacher training, such as student teaching or obtain a teaching license.

Get a Teaching Certification

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the United States, most overseas employers require job candidates to be certified. Local universities or community colleges are a starting point when searching for a certification program. Certain options include online programs focusing primarily on Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Second Language teaching (TESL), and training courses in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).

Find a Work

Upon having completed a bachelor's degree, TOEFL teacher training and certification, an applicant will have to start looking for employment, either in the U.S. or in another country of his or her choosing. Institutions in other countries, including government agencies, colleges and universities, private schools and enterprises, need professors to prepare and teach TOEFL certification. There are several outlets where you can apply for a spot as a TOEFL educator, including job websites for teaching English as a foreign language. Universities and colleges also provide career services for candidates, which include details on teaching English abroad or other languages.

Consider Pursuing a Master's Degree

Based on one's career aspirations, some people continue to study with a master's degree in English, ESL, literacy, or linguistics. Even though a master's credential is not usually required to teach TOEFL programs, certain institutions, such as universities and colleges, require it. If someone is interested in career growth, such as a spot in the curriculum development of the ESL or TOEFL training programs, a master's degree will be useful.

Is it possible to obtain a TOEFL certificate without an exam?

💭 TOEFL Questions

No, of course, without taking the exam, you can not obtain the certification legally. If you've already taken the test in the last two years but have lost your certificate, you may obtain a replacement, but not otherwise. The ETS maintains all the test protocols and results, and the institutions come to terms only with ETS.

Are TOEFL and IELTS the same? What is the difference?

The TOEFL test measures your skill in using and understanding English. It also assesses how well you incorporate your academic abilities to listen, read, speak, and write. While IELTS or the International English Language Testing System, it is intended to evaluate applicants' linguistic ability to study or work, where English is used as a communication language.

What is it like to take the TOEFL exam?

The TOEFL measures candidates' ability to listen, read, speak, and write in the English language. There are two kinds of speaking tasks: Independent speaking and Integrated speaking. The first role involves scholarly speech, while the latter deals on work experience based on ideas and perspectives. Integrated task mixes listening and reading. On the opposite, independent task tests show how well you can talk when you take these thoughts into account. Both tasks aim to check your intonation, pronunciation, fluency, and grammatical scope.

💭 TOEFL Questions - TOEFL

How long does it take to receive a TOEFL score report?

Score reports are being sent to your recipients roughly 13 days after the test date. Expect 7–10 days after the test date for mail service to the United States and more time for mail delivery to other destinations. ETS has no control over delivery.

Why do you need certificate of TOEFL?

The TOEFL is an internationally recognized language test that verifies your command of the English language. The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) can come in handy if you want to go to a university or graduate school in another country, as well as if you want to do an internship or job placement there.
