  1. A pupil's average score across 4 tests is 74. After a 5th test, the average drops to 70. What did the pupil score on the 5th test?

    Answer: 54

    Total after 4 tests = 4 × 74 = 296. Total after 5 tests = 5 × 70 = 350. 5th score = 350 − 296 = 54.
