Answer: 45
15 + 22 + 8 = 45 pupils in total.
What is the ratio of boys to girls in a class of 30 where 18 are boys?
Answer: 3:2
Boys:Girls = 18:12. Simplifying by dividing both by 6 gives 3:2.
A school budget of £45,000 is split between departments in the ratio 5:4:3. How much does the largest department receive?
Answer: £18,750
Total parts = 5 + 4 + 3 = 12. Each part = £45,000 ÷ 12 = £3,750. Largest = 5 × £3,750 = £18,750.
What is the area of a rectangular classroom that is 9.5m long and 7.2m wide?
Answer: 68.4 m²
Area = length × width = 9.5 × 7.2 = 68.4 m².
If 5 teachers can mark 150 scripts in 3 hours, how long will it take 3 teachers to mark the same 150 scripts at the same rate?
Answer: 5 hours
5 teachers take 3 hours. 1 teacher would take 15 hours. 3 teachers would take 15 ÷ 3 = 5 hours.
Which of the following is equivalent to 5/8?
Answer: 0.625
