A rectangle has a perimeter of 36 cm. If the length is twice the width, what is the area?
Answer: 72 cm²
Let width = w. Length = 2w. Perimeter: 2(2w + w) = 36, so 6w = 36, w = 6. Length = 12. Area = 12 × 6 = 72 cm².
A company's revenue increased from $400,000 to $520,000. What was the percentage increase?
Answer: 30%
Increase = $520,000 - $400,000 = $120,000. Percentage = ($120,000 / $400,000) × 100 = 30%.
A tank is filled by Pipe A in 6 hours and by Pipe B in 4 hours. If both pipes are open simultaneously, how long does it take to fill the tank?
Answer: 2.4 hours
Rate A = 1/6 per hour, Rate B = 1/4 per hour. Combined: 1/6 + 1/4 = 5/12. Time = 12/5 = 2.4 hours.
