NPTE-PTA National Physical Therapy Exam

The NPTE-PTA (National Physical Therapy Examination for Physical Therapist Assistants) is administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). Effective January 2024, the exam consists of 180 multiple-choice questions (140 scored, 40 unscored pretest items) with a 4-hour time limit, split into four 40-question sections. A scaled passing score of 600 out of 800 is required. Content is organized into Body Systems (cardiovascular/pulmonary, musculoskeletal, neuromuscular/nervous, integumentary, lymphatic) and Non-Systems (data collection, therapeutic interventions, equipment, professional roles).
