  1. A team of 4 workers can unload a truck in 6 hours. How long would it take 8 workers at the same rate?

    Answer: 3 hours

    Doubling the workers halves the time: 6 ÷ 2 = 3 hours.

  2. A shop orders 144 items and sells them at $3.50 each. If each item cost $1.80, what is the total profit?

    Answer: $244.80

    Profit per item = $3.50 − $1.80 = $1.70; total profit = $1.70 × 144 = $244.80.

  3. Convert 5.25 hours into hours and minutes.

    Answer: 5 hours 15 minutes

    0.25 hours × 60 minutes/hour = 15 minutes, so the answer is 5 hours 15 minutes.

  4. A cylindrical tank has a radius of 3 feet and a height of 10 feet. Using π ≈ 3.14, what is its volume?

    Answer: 282.6 cu ft

    V = π × r² × h = 3.14 × 9 × 10 = 282.6 cubic feet.

  5. A paycheck shows gross pay of $920 and deductions totaling $217.40. What is the net pay?

    Answer: $702.60

    $920.00 − $217.40 = $702.60 net pay.

  6. If a machine produces 480 parts in 8 hours, how many parts does it produce per minute?

    Answer: 1 part/min

    480 parts ÷ 8 hours ÷ 60 minutes = 1 part per minute.
