If a price increases from $80 to $100, what is the percent increase?
Answer: 25%
Percent increase = (change / original) × 100 = (20 / 80) × 100 = 25%.
What is 35% of 240?
Answer: 84
0.35 × 240 = 84.
A store discounts an item by 20%, then discounts the sale price by an additional 10%. What is the total percent reduction from the original price?
Answer: 28%
After the two discounts, the price is 0.80 × 0.90 = 0.72, or 72% of the original, giving a 28% total reduction.
If 40% of x equals 60, what is x?
Answer: 150
0.40x = 60, so x = 60 / 0.40 = 150.
A population grows from 5,000 to 6,500. What is the percent increase?

Percent increase = (1,500 / 5,000) × 100 = 30%.
If p is 150% of q, then q is what percent of p?
