    Answer: 5:00 PM

  3. What is the value of (0.5)^-2?

    Answer: 4

    (0.5)^-2 = 1/(0.25) = 4.

  4. A number increased by 12 equals three times the number decreased by 4. What is the number?

    Answer: 8

    x + 12 = 3x - 4 gives 2x = 16, x = 8.

  5. If the diagonal of a square is 8√2, what is its area?

    Answer: 64

    Side = diagonal/√2 = 8, so area = 64.

  6. Investing $2000 at 5% simple annual interest, how much interest is earned in 3 years?

    Answer: $300

    Simple interest = 2000 × 0.05 × 3 = $300.
