  1. A machine labels 360 bottles per hour. It runs for 25 minutes. How many bottles are labeled?

    Answer: 150

    360 per 60 minutes = 6 per minute; 6 × 25 = 150 bottles.

  2. Scan for the misplaced number in this otherwise ascending list: 5, 10, 15, 20, 26, 30, 35

    Answer: 26

    The sequence increases by 5 each time; 20 + 5 = 25, not 26.

  3. A worker stuffs 14 envelopes per minute. Another stuffs 11 per minute. Together, how many do they stuff in 20 minutes?

    Answer: 500

  4. Which code is OUT OF PLACE when all others follow pattern XX-000: AB-123, CD-456, EF-789, GH-12, IJ-012?

    GH-12 has only two digits after the dash, not three like all the others.

  5. A reader scans 1 page every 45 seconds. How many pages does she scan in 15 minutes?

    Answer: 20

    15 minutes = 900 seconds; 900 ÷ 45 = 20 pages.

    Answer: 4

    Lowercase letters: a, c, e, g — four total.

  7. A scheduling system processes 480 appointment requests in 6 hours. How long does it take to process 200 requests at the same rate?

    Answer: 2.5 hours

    Rate = 480 ÷ 6 = 80 per hour; 200 ÷ 80 = 2.5 hours.
