1. An employer is looking to hire a watchmaker, a role that requires assembling minuscule gears and springs with precision tools. Which GATB aptitude is the most critical indicator of a candidate's potential for success in this job?

   • A. Form Perception (P)
   • B. Motor Coordination (K)
   • C. Finger Dexterity (F)
   • D. Manual Dexterity (M)

Answer: C. Finger Dexterity (F)

Finger Dexterity (F) is the ability to move the fingers and manipulate small objects with the fingers, rapidly and accurately. Assembling the tiny components of a watch is a classic example of a task requiring a high degree of this aptitude.

Answer: D. Manual Dexterity (M)

The 'Place' and 'Turn' tests are the specific apparatus-based subtests used by the GATB to measure Manual Dexterity (M). They require skillful arm, wrist, and whole-hand movements.

Answer: B. Mark Making

Aptitude K, Motor Coordination, is directly measured by the 'Mark Making' test. This test requires the test-taker to make rapid and precise pencil marks within small circles, assessing the coordination between the eyes and hands for speed and accuracy.

Answer: C. Clerical Perception (Q)

Clerical Perception (Q) is the ability to perceive detail in verbal or tabular material, proofread words and numbers, and avoid perceptual errors. This is the core skill required for accurately transcribing data and catching potential errors. The other options are less relevant; General Learning is for problem-solving, Verbal Aptitude is for understanding language, and Manual Dexterity is for physical hand movements.
