    Answer: 25

    Girls make up 5/8 of 40, which is 25.

    Answer: 7/12

    There are 7 non-blue marbles out of 12.

  3. An investment of $2,000 earns 5% simple interest per year. How much interest is earned after 3 years?

    Answer: $300

    Simple interest = 2000 × 0.05 × 3 = $300.

  4. If x² − 5x + 6 = 0, what are the possible values of x?

    Answer: 2 and 3

    The expression factors as (x − 2)(x − 3) = 0.

  5. A tank is filled by pipe A in 6 hours and by pipe B in 3 hours. If both pipes are open, how long does it take to fill the tank?

  6. A survey shows that 60% of 250 respondents prefer tea. Of those who prefer tea, 40% drink it with milk. How many respondents drink tea with milk?
