Failed the REM — what to do differently the second time

Got my results yesterday and didn't pass. I'm frustrated but trying to stay focused on what to fix rather than dwelling on it. Writing this partly to process it and partly because I know others will be in the same spot.

My weakest area was study guide — I knew going in that it was shaky but underestimated how much the exam weighted it. The questions weren't unfair, I just didn't have the depth I needed.

I'm rebuilding my study plan around the free rem basics questions and answers and going much slower this time — no more rushing through topics I think I know. Planning to take 8 more weeks before rescheduling.

Anyone else been through a REM retake? What specifically changed in your approach that made the difference? And is it normal to feel like the second attempt is actually harder because of the pressure?

The part about reviewing wrong answers thoroughly is so underrated. Most people (including me, first time around) just move on after getting something wrong. Going back to understand the concept is what actually builds retention for the REM.

Bookmarking this. I'm still in the early stages of REM prep and threads like this are way more useful than generic study guides. The specifics about exam prep are particularly helpful — that's the section I've been avoiding.

For the people asking about study timelines: I studied 73 minutes per day for 10 weeks working full time. It's absolutely doable without burning out. The key is consistency — missing days hurts more than extending your timeline.

Good thread. One thing I'd add: don't try to cram the night before. I did 2 hours the night before my REM and I think it hurt more than helped. Your brain needs consolidation time. Light review or full rest is better.
