Finally passed my Legal Support cert after two attempts — what worked for me
Okay so I've been lurking here for a while and wanted to share my experience because I really struggled with this exam the first time around. I work at a small family law firm and my supervisor basically said get certified or get left behind, which was... motivating, I guess. Failed my first attempt by 8 points. Crushed. I had mostly skimmed a study guide and figured my on-the-job experience would carry me. It did not.
Second time I gave myself 6 weeks and got way more structured. The section that killed me was legal research and filing procedures — I thought I knew it but the exam tests really specific workflows. Found a Legal Support Legal Research and Filing practice test that matched the actual exam format way better than anything else I tried. Drilled it until I was consistently hitting 80%+.
Anyone else find that the terminology section is sneakier than it looks? I'd love to compare notes on Legal Support practice test strategies, especially for the document prep portion. Happy to answer questions about what the exam day experience is actually like.
