Michigan bar results timeline — what to expect after sitting in July
Just finished the July Michigan bar exam. This is my first attempt. I'm in the "waiting is worse than studying" phase and I'm trying to find accurate information about when results actually come out versus what the official timeline says.
The Michigan Board of Law Examiners says results are typically released in mid-October for the July exam. I've been going through mi bar law and procedure practice material obsessively, which probably isn't helping my anxiety but at least it's something.
What I really want to know from people who've been through it: do Michigan results actually come out mid-October or is that a best-case date? And is there any way to tell from how the exam felt whether you passed — or does everyone feel like they failed?
Michigan results have been consistently releasing in the second or third week of October for July sitters in recent years. Mid-October is accurate. Don't start expecting results before October 14th and don't panic until the 25th. The timeline holds reasonably well.
Everyone feels like they failed. That's not a useful signal. The questions are designed to be challenging and to make you second-guess yourself. The feeling of uncertainty after a bar exam is universal across everyone from confident first-timers to experienced re-sitters.
Stop studying. Seriously. You've taken the exam, the outcome is determined, and re-reviewing law and procedure questions won't change it. Take the next few weeks to actually rest. Your brain needs the recovery before whatever comes next.
The Michigan bar pass rate has been solid for in-state law school graduates — typically in the 75-80% range for first-timers from accredited schools. The odds are in your favor statistically even if it doesn't feel that way right now.
