Finally passed my hospitality tourism certification after two failed attempts
I'm honestly still in shock. Passed my hospitality and tourism management certification this morning with an 84% after failing at 71% and 68% on my first two tries. I work front desk at a mid-size hotel and my manager basically told me I needed this cert to be considered for the assistant manager opening, so the pressure was real. The first time I just tried to wing it — big mistake. Second time I studied but focused too much on lodging operations and completely bombed the destination marketing and ecotourism sections.
What finally clicked for me was finding a solid HOSPITALITY TOURISM practice test that actually covered the full exam blueprint, not just the popular topics. I also stopped trying to memorize everything and started focusing on understanding the why behind concepts like revenue management, guest satisfaction metrics, and sustainable tourism principles. The study guide I used broke those down really clearly.
If anyone's prepping right now I'm happy to share what worked. The exam tips I picked up in week three honestly changed everything — especially around time management during the test itself.
