I've been going back and forth on whether to pursue EFMB certification and wanted to get honest input from people who've actually done it.
On paper, having study guide credentials on your resume looks great. But I'm wondering whether employers actually differentiate between certified and non-certified candidates in practice, or whether it just checks a box.
My current role doesn't require the EFMB but a senior position I'm targeting lists it as preferred. I've been using the efmb leadership & mental toughness to study and expert field medical badge for the broader context — the content is solid, but I want to make sure the certification itself carries weight before investing another 10 weeks.
For anyone who got the EFMB cert: did it open doors you wouldn't have otherwise had? Any salary bump or was it more of a formality for a promotion you were already on track for?
This is exactly the thread I needed. I sit for my EFMB in 2 weeks and have been second-guessing my prep. The exam prep area you mentioned is definitely my weak spot. Thanks for the honest breakdown.
For what it's worth — I've taken the EFMB twice now. First attempt I underestimated the study guide questions. Second time I focused almost exclusively on applied practice and passed comfortably. The difference is real.
Bookmarking this. I'm still in the early stages of EFMB prep and threads like this are way more useful than generic study guides. The specifics about exam prep are particularly helpful — that's the section I've been avoiding.
