Working as a cardiovascular tech at a cardiology practice. My employer is pushing for CVT certification but there seem to be multiple paths — through CCI or through AMT depending on what aspect of cardiology you focus on.

My daily work is mostly ECG interpretation, Holter monitoring, stress testing, and some assist in cath lab. No echo work currently. Which certification aligns best with that scope of practice?

CCI's RCIS is the cath lab-focused credential. For the broader non-invasive work you described — ECG, Holter, stress — the CCT or CRAT through CCI is more appropriate. AMT's RCT is also recognized for similar scope.

If you're not doing echo and not primarily in the cath lab, the CCT (Certified Cardiographic Technician) from CCI is probably the best fit. It's specifically designed for the non-invasive monitoring and diagnostic work.

Check what other CVTs at your practice hold and what your state board recognizes for billing purposes. The practical answer is often the credential that your employer's contracts and payers recognize for reimbursement.
