Did a full timed practice test today and ran out of time with 10 questions left. Definitely have a time management problem.
The GPC - Glider Pilot Certificate exam has 98 questions and the time limit is 120 minutes by my understanding. That works out to roughly 58 seconds per question — which should be doable except I keep stopping on "GPC exam" type questions.
My bad habit: I over-analyze questions I'm unsure about rather than making a best guess and moving on.
Any strategies that worked for you? Specifically:
- Do you go through once and skip hard questions to come back to?
- How many questions on "GPC" should I expect — is it worth the time investment?
- Is the real exam usually easier to pace than practice tests, or harder?
I'm good enough on the content, I think — it's purely pacing that's failing me.

On the "GPC exam" stuff specifically — I found the practice tests here were actually harder than the real exam on those questions. Which was great because going in I felt more prepared than I needed to be.
The time pressure is real though. I came in with maybe 8 minutes to spare and that was after skipping the ones I wasn't sure about and coming back.
Don't try to cram the night before. Seriously. Last-minute stress makes you second-guess things you actually know.
For what it's worth from someone who's been through it:
The GPC is one of those exams where the practice tests really do prepare you well. The style of questioning is pretty consistent. If you're comfortable with "GPC" material under timed conditions, you'll be fine.
The one thing I'd add: read the question stems very carefully. They sometimes add a qualifier that completely changes the right answer and it's easy to miss when you're going fast.
Also check whether you need to schedule the exam in advance — some testing centers book up 2-3 weeks out.

I almost quit after my second failed practice run, honestly. I kept bombing the airspace stuff and thought maybe glider flying just wasn't for me. What finally clicked was drilling specifically on gpc glider pilot certificate regulations and airspace questions separately until they felt automatic, not because I understood every rule perfectly but because I'd seen the patterns enough times that I wasn't burning 90 seconds per question trying to remember what Class G means at 1,200 feet.
Once that section stopped eating my time I had breathing room for everything else. You're probably not slow across the whole test, just stuck on one category that's draining your clock. Find it and hammer it. I passed on my third attempt and I'm not some aviation genius, I just stopped treating every question the same and started triaging.
