ACE Acronis certification — is it worth pursuing if you only work with Acronis at one client site?

I'm an IT consultant who manages infrastructure for about 15 small business clients. One of my larger clients runs Acronis Cyber Protect exclusively and I've been managing their backup environment for 2 years. Acronis has been nudging me toward the ACE certification but I'm not sure if it makes sense to invest the time when I'm not an Acronis-focused MSP.

I also don't know how hard the exam is for someone who's been working with the product hands-on but hasn't done formal vendor training. My practical knowledge is solid but I've never gone through the official curriculum.

Is this credential actually recognized by clients or is it mainly useful within the Acronis partner ecosystem?

The Acronis Certified Engineer practice questions here helped me identify which product areas the exam emphasizes most. Cloud integration and the cyber protection features got more questions than I expected given that most environments I manage use the backup functionality primarily.

Client recognition is modest for vendor-specific certifications at this level. The real value is within the Acronis partner program — it unlocks higher support tiers, better pricing, and partner portal access that can benefit all your clients, not just the Acronis one.

Hands-on experience translates well but the official curriculum covers deployment architecture and disaster recovery planning sections that go deeper than typical day-to-day management. Budget a week for the official training before you sit the exam.

If you're managing a significant Acronis environment it's worth the credential for your own confidence and troubleshooting depth even if client recognition is limited. The exam forces you to fill in gaps that hands-on experience doesn't always cover — backup architecture, recovery time objectives, replication configurations.

I'm in a similar boat and went for it last year while juggling three client sites. Honestly the hardest part wasn't the material, it was finding time. I'd do 20-30 minutes on lunch breaks or right after the kids went to bed. The free ace installation configuration integration practice questions helped a lot because I could knock out a set quickly without committing to a long study session. It took me about six weeks studying part-time.

Is it worth it for one client? Probably depends on how much of your income that client represents. For me it was worth it just to have the credential on my profile, and I did end up picking up a second Acronis client a few months after passing because they specifically asked if I was certified. You might be surprised how it opens doors even when you're not actively looking.

Just passed the ACE last month so I'll share what actually helped me. The installation and configuration domain was way more detailed than I expected — I'd been managing Acronis backups hands-on for over a year and still got caught off guard by some of the integration questions. What finally clicked for me was drilling with free ace installation configuration integration practice questions. Honestly didn't think I needed it but that specific domain tripped me up in my first attempt.

To your actual question — yeah, it's worth it even for one client. My situation was similar and the cert gave me enough credibility that two other clients asked me to evaluate Acronis for them after seeing it on my profile. It's a pretty niche cert so you don't have much competition.
