  1. At a T-intersection where there are no signs or signals, the driver on the terminating (dead-end) road must:

Answer: Give way to all vehicles on the continuing road

At a T-intersection, the road that ends (terminates) is always the lower-priority road. The driver on the terminating road must give way to all vehicles travelling on the continuing through road, regardless of direction.

  2. When you approach an intersection and the traffic light turns yellow (amber), you should:

Answer: Stop before the stop line if it is safe to do so

A yellow light means the light is about to turn red. You must stop if you can do so safely. Only continue through if stopping would be dangerous — for example, if you are already too close to the stop line to stop safely.

  3. When the traffic lights at an intersection are not working at all (completely dark), you should treat the intersection as:

Answer: An uncontrolled intersection and give way to vehicles on your right

When traffic lights are out of order, the intersection becomes an uncontrolled intersection. You must apply the standard give-way-to-the-right rule, treating it the same as if no signs or signals are present.

  4. You are driving straight ahead at an intersection with a green light. A vehicle from the opposite direction is turning right across your path. Who must give way?

Answer: The right-turning vehicle must give way to you

A vehicle turning right must give way to all oncoming vehicles going straight ahead, even when both have a green light. The right turn is a more complex and higher-risk manoeuvre, so the turning driver bears the give-way obligation.

  5. When turning left or right at an intersection, you must give way to:

Answer: Pedestrians who are crossing the road you are turning into

Whenever you turn at an intersection, you must give way to any pedestrians crossing the road you are about to enter. This applies whether the pedestrian is in a marked crossing or simply crossing the road you are turning into.

  6. You are in the right lane of a two-lane right-turn bay at an intersection. After completing your right turn, you must:

Answer: Remain in the right lane until it is safe to change lanes

When turning from a multi-lane turn bay, each driver must finish their turn in the lane that corresponds to their starting position. A driver in the right turn lane must complete the turn into the right lane of the new road before making any lane change.
