  1. Find the mean of: 14, 18, 22, 10, 16.

    Answer: 16

    Sum = 14 + 18 + 22 + 10 + 16 = 80. Mean = 80 ÷ 5 = 16.

  2. Find the median of: 3, 7, 5, 2, 9, 4, 6.

    Answer: 5

    Arranged in order: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9. The middle value (4th of 7) is 5.

  3. Find the mode of: 4, 7, 2, 7, 9, 4, 7, 1.

    Answer: 7

    7 appears three times, which is more than any other value. The mode is 7.

  4. Find the range of: 45, 12, 67, 33, 89, 21.

    Answer: 77

    Range = highest − lowest = 89 − 12 = 77.

  5. A test was scored out of 50. Five students scored: 35, 42, 28, 47, 38. What is the mean score?

    Answer: 38

    Sum = 35 + 42 + 28 + 47 + 38 = 190. Mean = 190 ÷ 5 = 38.

  6. Find the median of: 11, 15, 9, 20, 13, 18.

    Answer: 14

    Ordered: 9, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20. With 6 values, median = mean of 3rd and 4th = (13 + 15) ÷ 2 = 14.
