  1. A soldier marches 24 km in 6 hours. What is his average speed?

    Answer: 4 km/h

    Speed = distance ÷ time = 24 ÷ 6 = 4 km/h.

  2. Two vehicles leave the same base in opposite directions at 60 km/h and 80 km/h. How far apart are they after 3 hours?

    Answer: 420 km

    Combined speed = 140 km/h; distance = 140 × 3 = 420 km.

  3. A plane flies 450 km in 1.5 hours. How long will it take to fly 900 km at the same speed?

    Answer: 3 hours

    Speed = 300 km/h; time = 900 ÷ 300 = 3 hours.

  4. A convoy travels 180 km in 3 hours, then 120 km in 2 hours. What is the average speed for the whole trip?

    Answer: 60 km/h

    Total distance = 300 km; total time = 5 hours; average speed = 60 km/h.

  5. A soldier can run 5 km in 25 minutes. At this rate, how long will it take to run 8 km?

    Answer: 40 minutes

    Rate = 5 min/km; time for 8 km = 8 × 5 = 40 minutes.

  6. Two soldiers start walking toward each other from points 15 km apart, one at 4 km/h and the other at 6 km/h. How long before they meet?

    Answer: 1.5 hours

    Combined closing speed = 10 km/h; time = 15 ÷ 10 = 1.5 hours.

  7. A patrol jeep travels at 80 km/h for 45 minutes. How far does it travel?

    Answer: 60 km

    45 minutes = 0.75 hours; distance = 80 × 0.75 = 60 km.
