A rectangular field is 3 times as long as it is wide. If the perimeter is 96 m, what is the area?
Answer: 432 m²
2(w + 3w) = 96 → w = 12, length = 36; area = 12 × 36 = 432 m².
A soldier starts with 3/4 of a full water supply and uses 2/5 of what he has. What fraction of the full supply remains?
Answer: 9/20
Remaining = (3/4) × (1 − 2/5) = (3/4) × (3/5) = 9/20.
