40% of $35 is $14, and $35 + $14 = $49.00.
Which of the following is equivalent to 3x² − 12x?
Answer: 3x(x − 4)
Factor out 3x from each term: 3x² − 12x = 3x(x − 4).
If the ratio of boys to girls in a class is 3:5 and there are 24 boys, how many students are in the class total?
Answer: 64
24 boys ÷ 3 = 8 per part; 8 parts × (3+5) = 64 students total.
What is the slope of the line passing through (2, 5) and (6, 13)?
Answer: 2
Slope = (13 − 5) ÷ (6 − 2) = 8 ÷ 4 = 2.
A triangle has angles measuring 45° and 75°. What is the measure of the third angle?
Answer: 60°
The angles of a triangle sum to 180°, so 180 − 45 − 75 = 60°.
Simplify: (2³ × 2⁴) ÷ 2²
Answer: 2⁵
2³ × 2⁴ = 2⁷, then 2⁷ ÷ 2² = 2⁵.
A rectangle has a perimeter of 54 cm and a width of 9 cm. What is its area?
Answer: 162 cm²
Length = (54 ÷ 2) − 9 = 18 cm; Area = 18 × 9 = 162 cm².
