  1. Which equation represents a line with slope 2 and y-intercept −3?

    Answer: y = 2x − 3

    Slope-intercept form is y = mx + b, where m = 2 and b = −3.

  2. A car travels 240 miles in 4 hours. At the same rate, how far will it travel in 7 hours?

    Answer: 420 miles

    Speed = 240 ÷ 4 = 60 mph; distance in 7 hours = 60 × 7 = 420 miles.

  3. What is 0.006 written in scientific notation?

    Answer: 6 × 10⁻³

    Moving the decimal 3 places right gives 6 × 10⁻³.

  4. The perimeter of a rectangle is 56 cm. If the width is 10 cm, what is the length?

    Answer: 18 cm

    Perimeter = 2l + 2w → 56 = 2l + 20 → 2l = 36 → l = 18 cm.

  5. Solve for x: 5x − 9 = 2x + 6

    Answer: x = 5

    5x − 2x = 6 + 9 → 3x = 15 → x = 5.

  6. A data set is: 4, 7, 7, 9, 13. What is the mean?

    Answer: 8

    Sum = 4 + 7 + 7 + 9 + 13 = 40; mean = 40 ÷ 5 = 8.

  7. Which expression is equivalent to (x + 3)(x − 2)?

    Answer: x² + x − 6

    FOIL: x² − 2x + 3x − 6 = x² + x − 6.
