What is the volume of a rectangular prism with length 5 cm, width 3 cm, and height 4 cm?
Answer: 60 cm³
Volume of a rectangular prism = length × width × height = 5 × 3 × 4 = 60 cm³.
An angle measures 135°. How would this angle be classified?
Answer: Obtuse
An obtuse angle measures between 90° and 180°, so 135° is obtuse.
A map uses a scale of 1 inch = 50 miles. If two cities are 3.5 inches apart on the map, what is the actual distance?
Answer: 175 miles
Actual distance = 3.5 × 50 = 175 miles.
Which of the following shapes has exactly one pair of parallel sides?
Answer: Trapezoid
A trapezoid has exactly one pair of parallel sides, unlike rectangles, rhombuses, and squares which have two pairs.
A student measures a pencil as 19 centimeters long. How long is this in millimeters?
Answer: 190 mm
1 centimeter = 10 millimeters, so 19 cm × 10 = 190 mm.
A right triangle has legs measuring 6 cm and 8 cm. What is the length of the hypotenuse?
Answer: 10 cm
Using the Pythagorean theorem: c² = 6² + 8² = 36 + 64 = 100, so c = 10 cm.
A circle has an area of 78.5 cm². What is its radius? (Use π ≈ 3.14)
Answer: 5 cm
Area = π × r², so 78.5 = 3.14 × r², r² = 25, r = 5 cm.
