A recipe uses milk and water in the ratio 3:1 to make a total of 2 liters. How many mL of water are needed? (1 L = 1,000 mL)
Answer: 500 mL
Water fraction = 1/(3+1) = 1/4; water = 1/4 × 2,000 mL = 500 mL.
A car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 8 seconds. What is the car's average acceleration in mph per second?
