24 ÷ 30 = 0.8 = 80%.
A solution of 40 liters is 15% alcohol. How many liters of pure alcohol are in the solution?
Answer: 6 liters
15% of 40 = 0.15 × 40 = 6 liters.
If a car travels at 55 mph, how many feet does it travel in one second? (1 mile = 5,280 feet; 1 hour = 3,600 seconds)
Answer: 80.7 ft/s
55 × 5,280 ÷ 3,600 = 290,400 ÷ 3,600 ≈ 80.7 ft/s.

If 70% of the original price = $84, then original = $84 ÷ 0.70 = $120.

Answer: 7.1 cm
Original area = 25 cm²; new area = 50 cm²; new side = √50 ≈ 7.07 ≈ 7.1 cm.
A fruit punch recipe mixes orange juice and pineapple juice in a ratio of 3:2. How many liters of pineapple juice are needed to make 25 liters of punch?
Answer: 10 liters
Pineapple juice fraction = 2/(3+2) = 2/5; 2/5 × 25 = 10 liters.
A 500-page book has a ratio of text pages to image pages of 4:1. How many pages contain images?
Answer: 100 pages
Image fraction = 1/(4+1) = 1/5; 1/5 × 500 = 100 pages.
