  1. What is the sum of the interior angles of a hexagon?

    Answer: 720°

    Sum of interior angles = (n-2) × 180° = (6-2) × 180° = 720°.

  2. A number when divided by 5 gives a remainder of 3. What is the remainder when the square of that number is divided by 5?

    Answer: 4

    If n ≡ 3 (mod 5), then n² ≡ 9 ≡ 4 (mod 5).

  3. The simple interest on a sum for 3 years at 8% per annum is $720. What is the principal?

    Answer: $3,000

    SI = PRT/100; 720 = P × 8 × 3/100; P = 72000/24 = $3,000.

  4. Two numbers are in the ratio 5:7. If their LCM is 140, what is their sum?

    Answer: 48

    Numbers = 5k and 7k; LCM = 35k = 140, so k = 4; numbers = 20 and 28; sum = 20 + 28 = 48.

  5. If f(x) = x² - 3x + 2, what is f(4)?

    Answer: 6

    f(4) = 16 - 12 + 2 = 6.

  6. A circle has a circumference of 44 cm. What is its area? (Use π = 22/7)

    Answer: 154 cm²

    C = 2πr = 44, so r = 7; Area = πr² = (22/7) × 49 = 154 cm².

  7. In a group of 100 students, 60 study Math and 50 study Science. If 30 study both, how many study neither?

    Answer: 20

    Students studying Math or Science = 60 + 50 - 30 = 80; students studying neither = 100 - 80 = 20.
