A matrix shows the number of corners of shapes. Row 1: 3, 4, 5. Row 2: 6, 7, 8. Row 3: 9, 10, ___. What is missing?
Answer: 11
The values increment by 1 across each row; Row 3 continues 9, 10, 11.
In a matrix, shapes in the top row are outlined, the middle row shapes are striped, and the bottom row shapes are filled. The right column always contains circles. What is the bottom-right cell?
Answer: Filled circle
Bottom row = filled; right column = circle; therefore the cell is a filled circle.
Each matrix row contains shapes where the area doubles from left to right: 1 unit², 2 unit², 4 unit². What is the area of the rightmost cell in any row?
Answer: 4 unit²
The areas double: 1→2→4, so the rightmost (third) cell has an area of 4 unit².
A 3×3 matrix has each cell contain a shape with a number of sides equal to (row number + column number). What shape is in Row 2, Column 4... if the matrix were extended?
Answer: Hexagon
Row 2 + Column 4 = 6 sides, which is a hexagon.
In a matrix, each row's figures represent a set of identical shapes. Moving down the rows, the number of shapes per cell increases by 1: Row 1 has 1, Row 2 has 2. How many shapes are in each cell of Row 5?
Answer: 5
Row n contains n shapes per cell; Row 5 contains 5 shapes.
In a matrix reasoning test, the 'missing piece' completes a 2×2 pattern. Top-left = black circle, top-right = white circle, bottom-left = black square. What is the bottom-right?
Answer: White square
The pattern shows that the right column is white and the bottom row changes shape to square; the missing cell is a white square.
