What is the value of −8 + (−5) − (−3)?
Answer: −10
−8 + (−5) = −13. Then −13 − (−3) = −13 + 3 = −10.

Answer: $30
25% of $40 = 0.25 × 40 = $10 discount. Sale price = $40 − $10 = $30.
Two angles are supplementary. One angle measures 65°. What is the measure of the other angle?
Answer: 115°
Supplementary angles sum to 180°. The other angle = 180° − 65° = 115°.
