How long did you study before passing the Library Science certification exam?
Hey everyone, I'm about three months out from sitting for my Library Science certification and I'm starting to panic a little. I've been working as a library assistant for two years but the formal exam stuff feels overwhelming. Right now I'm spending about 90 minutes a day on a Library Science study guide I found, but I honestly don't know if that's enough or if I'm even covering the right material.
The collection development section is killing me — I can't seem to wrap my head around weeding policies and the selection criteria frameworks. I found the Library Science Collection Development practice test here and it's been helpful for identifying gaps, but I keep scoring around 68% and I want to be at 80%+ before exam day.
For those who've already passed — what was your study timeline like? Did you use practice tests heavily, or mostly reading? And did the actual exam feel harder than the prep materials? Any exam tips for someone who's decent on cataloging but weak on administration topics would be seriously appreciated.
